Southwest Art by An Arizona Artist

This is a showcase of my southwest art!  I'm a southwest artist living in Arizona and my home and studio are located in Chandler, Arizona.  That's in the heart of the Sonoran Desert of the American Southwest. As you can imagine, I don't have to drive very far to find southwest subject matter for a painting.  Inspiration abounds for desert landscapes. And if that's not enough, there's home. Just a few steps out my door and I can paint the cactus that grows in my own yard, or the hummingbirds that find a meal in my aloe vera.  Usually I travel a few miles down the road (just pick a road, any road will do) to one of the many areas where the saguaros grow naturally, and most sunrises are beautiful.

I've been painting southwest art for many, many years.  I work in watercolor on paper and acrylic on canvas to capture the feeling this land inspires in my heart and soul.  I produce original paintings and fine art prints (reproductions) in both open editions and limited editions that are for sale through this web site and the various arts festivals that I attend every year.  Most paintings and reproductions are offered with the painted mats so many customers enjoy, and without the painting on the mat, for those who prefer a more subdued presentation. I also offer 'image only' prints and originals for those who prefer to do their own framing, and for professionals who plan to resell the work in their gallery.

My work is my own style and not at all what some would refer to as southwest art.  No dull colors are allowed in my palette!  The paintings are upbeat.  Fresh flowers and sunshine with beautiful scenery and a contemporary lifestyle are the subjects that draw my attention.  That's not to say that I don't appreciate 'traditional' southwest art.  Those of you who have followed my work for a few years know that I also paint Native American baskets and pots, Anazasi ruins and the rest of our region's natural wonders, like Sedona and the Grand Canyon . However, I remind you that I only paint the subject matter that is familiar to me through personal experience. That knowledge more often leads me to floral subjects, cacti, adobe dwellings, or southwest missions and the glow of sunrises across the desert floor.  I hope that you will enjoy your tour of my country. If you can't visit Arizona often, then visit me often here on this site and enjoy the sunshine.

If you are visiting Arizona, and looking for art, please look for me through my show listings.  You may also email or telephone, (my number is on my order page), during or before your stay, to ask where you may see my work during your visit.  I do occasionally permit visits to my studio, but it is always by appointment.

If you like contemporary southwest art with clear, bright colors and subject matter to soothe your mood and make you smile, you'll like my work.

Welcome to the Southwest!
